What we love

  1. Take in the energy of Kigali by visiting the Inema Arts Centre and local markets.
  2. The 100,000-hectare Akagera National Park, most scenic savannah in East Africa – open plains, woodlands, lakes, swamp, and grassy low mountains.
  3. Volcanoes National Park – a stunning three-hour drive north among the lush, green landscape of the countryside. The landscape of Volcanoes National Park is incredible with a spectacular line of volcanoes far into the distance.
  4. Gorilla trek in Volcanoes National Park: Wake up at sunrise and drive the short journey to the park headquarters before starting the adventure into the forest.

Rwanda and its neighbour Uganda share the unique responsibility of conserving a population of critically endangered mountain gorillas and chimpanzees, funded in no small part through the trekking fees levied on visiting guests.

An ancient rain forest, the Bwindi Impenetrable Forest extends over a series of steep ridges in the Virunga Volcanoes mountain range. Declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site due to its ecological uniqueness and natural beauty, roughly half of the world’s total gorilla population live in this park.

Great Mountain Gorillas 🦍
