Namibia covers 824,292 sq. km (318,259 sq. mi) with an excess in wide open spaces, which is re-assuring when traveling in the world today. Namibia has a warm climate most of the year and is completely geared up to welcome tourists back in the country.

Namibia has an infrastructure that allows guests to move confidently off the beaten path and endless horizons that beckon you to explore. Namibia really does have something for everyone. From stargazing in the darkest of clear skies, discovering the country in a 4 x 4, exploring the geology and wildlife, to learning the culture or kite surfing in the sea. Angling, hot-air ballooning, canoeing & rafting, camel rides or horseback rides, Namibia offers it all.

The game lodges are of the highest standard to meet your every request, including superb culinary delights, and you can relax by topping off your meal with a Windhoek Lager beer. Main languages spoken are Afrikaans and German, however everyone also speaks English.

Exclusive Africa Experiences offers various packages, which can be combined with a Zimbabwe and/or Botswana itinerary, subject to the duration of the trip. Tour packages are generally designed around duration of 7, 14 or 21 days. Fully or partly guided tours are on offer. A fully guided tour for wildlife photography enthusiasts is also on offer. Distances are vast in order to see all of the main attractions. The road infrastructure is good so travel by road is absolutely possible. An alternative, faster, and more comfortable way to travel is by air, which can all be arranged by us.

You’ll find acres of unexplored desert and desert adapted game species. The game viewing in Etosha and the Caprivi Strip is also excellent. Head up the Skeleton Coast and meet the fascinating Himba people. Okonjima AfriCat sanctuary is also a must. Namibia’s ghost town on the way to the Fish River Canyon is fascinating. The Fish River Canyon is also spectacular.

Further activities can include a night Sky Safari in the Namib desert, sleep under the stars in Sossusvlei, go dune boarding in Swakopmund, track desert rhino and elephant, visit the Hoanib valley, see the Himba people, see the social white rhinos of the Etosha pan, and go fishing in Caprivi. All are incredible activities to create lifelong memories.

Overview

This is a suggested itinerary for 10 nights/11 days discovery of Namibia, which can be extended to a longer stay in Namibia, or tagged on to further Southern African destinations such as Botswana, Zimbabwe and South Africa.

Exclusive Africa Experiences has negotiated some incredible rates at top hotels and lodges in Namibia and will take care of all ground arrangements, excursions, and give you special tips on what to explore and what to look out for.

Overnights on this itinerary are at a top-rated hotels and lodges on a Bed & Breakfast basis. Generally, game lodges do offer full board, inclusive of game drives.

Planning

Day 1 – arrival by flight into the capital of Namibia, Windhoek This trip starts and ends in Namibia's capital, Windhoek. On arrival you will be met by our representative, who will transfer you to your hotel. Refresh at leisure before discovering the city of Windhoek.

Day 2 & 3 – Start the day early and head towards the Etosha National Park, which is about a 4 to 5-hour drive. Enjoy 2 nights in Etosha at one of the exclusive game lodges. Take an early morning and early evening game drive, whilst relaxing during the hottest part of the day.

Day 4 – Leave early towards Spitzkoppe “Matterhorn of Africa”, a 700 million year old ancient volcano with a dramatic shape. Explore the area before winding down and enjoying a wonderful sunset into the boulders of this ancient volcano. Glamping is arranged for 1 night.

Day 5 & 6 – Leave early and head your way to Swakopmund, whilst admiring the Skeleton Coast. Swakopmund is a former German colonial town, which has maintained all of the original architecture, language and food. This is not only about a quaint town. You can enjoy sand boarding on the dunes, quad biking, and paragliding are just some of the activities we can arrange for you. Spend 2 nights in Swakopmund at its famous hotel.

Day 7 & 8 – Head out early to Sossusvlei. This is the spot to admire the beauty of the Namib desert. The landscape is really surreal and any photographer’s dream. Spend 2 nights at a lodge.

Day 9 – Head out early to Fish River Canyon. It is a long road if driving but it is all worth it. Fish River Canyon is a 500 million year old canyon, 160 km long, 27 km wide and up to 550 meters deep in certain areas. Overnight has been arranged at one of the lodges.

Day 10 – Head out very early back to Windhoek for either one more overnight depending on your flight schedule.

Updates

About the COVID travel regulations (updated 29 October 2020): Generally, the infection rate in Namibia has been very low with around 12,500 cases in total to date. Namibia has eased travel restrictions and has opened up the country for tourists.

Travellers only need to present a negative PCR test that is not older than 72 hours and no further testing is required.

Regulations are evolving on a constant basis and need to be re-checked at time of travel. We are however confident that Namibia is a safe travel destination in this regard.
